John Hadfield founded The Cupid Press after serving as a Book Officer for the British Council in WWII. The publications he produced specialised in limited edition anthologies of poetry such as this. He often worked with Rex Whistler, the British artist and designer, who illustrated works by Evelyn Waugh, Walter de la Mare and Jonathan Swift.
