First edition, signed and inscribed by the author in 1965 on front paste-down. These memoirs cover a long carreer serving the Shahs. Arfa had joined the Imperial Guard in 1914, was trained by the Swiss army, fought the campaign against the Kurds in 1921, was Chief of the General Staff from 1944 to 1946, and made politics in the chaotic 1950s, until his retirement in 1962.
