First edition. André was the descendant of a 19th century French settler in Trinidad and became one of the first zoologists and geographers of the Guianas. In this book he describes his expeditions between 1897 and 1901 on the tributaries of the Orinoco. He includes accounts of wildlife, people, trade and industry within a narrative full of exciting incident.
