BILBO, Jack. No Heaven - No Hell: Human Conclusions. The Modern Art Gallery, London, 1946.
12mo. Original grey paper covered boards titled in red, with illustrated dust wrapper; pp.55 [1, ad]; a tidy, internally clean copy with a worn (but scarce) dust wrapper, toning to spine, price-clipped.
First edition. Bilbo (born Hugo Cyril Kulp Baruch) was a German writer, artist and gallery owner who fled Berlin when the Nazis came to power, eventually settling in England. He dabbled in lots of things with limited success, and has had several exhibitions dedicated to him over the years, most recently the at the David Zwirner Gallery in 2014. This book of aphorisms is slightly absurd, occasionally offensive, and filled with doodles. Scarce in the dust wrapper.
