HODGES, Dorothy. The Pollen Loads of the Honey Bee. Bee Research Association Ltd. 1974.
8vo. Original green cloth with yellow wrapper; pp. 51 + 14, 5 colour plates, text illustrations, 30 numbered b&w plates of pollen grains, 7 charts with blocks of colour pasted in to represent the variations in pollen loads; small mark to bottom edge, dustwrapper a little chipped to spine, otherwise very attractive, very good.
Facsimile of scarce 1952 first edition, with some additions. This is a fascinating examination by Hodges, an artist and beekeeper, of the sources and uses of pollen and its identification both in the loads carried by bees and in honey. The colour charts are an extraordinary representation of the variety of pollen picked up by bees, while the author's colour illustrations of bees are startling.
