ABERCONWAY, C. The Story of Mr Korah Illustrated by Rex Whistler. London, Michael Joseph, 1954.
Small 4to. Publisher's grey cloth, backed in red, gilt decoration to lower left corner, and gilt title to spine, with light blue illustrated dust jacket; pp. 42, with three full colour plates tipped in, and further black and white illustrations throughout; slightly used, but nevertheless a very good copy.
First Edition. A story from the imagination of the young Christabel Aberconway, family friend of Rex Whistler, inspired by the biblical tale of Korah, Datham and Abiram. Originally illustrated on a whim with sketches, whilst the original story was fabricated, Rex had intended to fully illustrate the story in colour 'after the war'. Though he did not live to see that day, some of the full colour illustrations he had prepared survived, and these have been included along with the sketches.
